From I-95

Take I-95 South.

Take exit 163 west. (Lorton Road, Route 642; before river.)

After  about 1.4 miles, bear right on Furnace Road (Lorton Road bears to the left at curve; Furnace Rd. is to the right).

Cross over Hooses Road.

At next light turn right unto Ox Road (Route 123).

Travel 1.2 miles on Ox Road.

At Hampton Road turn Left.

Go about 1/2 mile on Hampton Road.

Turn Left on Van Thompson Road (You will see power lines overhead just in front of you.)

After  about 1/4 miles Van Thompson bears sharply to the left at a well weathered barn and continues downhill to the entrance to Sandy Run Park. (Most often there is a police car at this corner.)

Once at the park you can walk the path down the hill and around reservoir, about 1 mile. It is a longer walk from the boat launch along the reservoir than to walk through the parking lot at the top of the hill back near the entrance. Some regattas have a shuttle bus for cost each way.

Snacks and outdoor restrooms are available at the finish line. Recommend buying regatta t-shirts early as they go fast.
