ARE YOU a High School Student NEW TO ROWING?

Learn to Row with Wilson Crew

For first-time rowers in high school, Wilson Crew is offering 3 one-week "Learn-To-Row" sessions at the beginning of the school year where students can try out rowing to see if they like the sport. (Note: you only need to attend one of the Learn-to-Row sessions, not all three.) There is no cost for these sessions, although a swim test and some forms and registration will be required.

Joining the Novice Team:

Once you've completed a Learn-to-Row session, you will be invited to join the Novice Team which is designed to get everyone up to speed before joining the Varsity Team in their second year. The novice squad will practice for five weeks in the fall, culminating in two races against local high schools. The team picks back up again over the winter to start training for spring races.

Why Crew?

When I am rowing I am with the people that I love and I am pushing my body to its limit, which I love.  Rowing allows me to be fit, have fun, and be totally obsessed with something.

I've found that there is more to rowing than just that same motion over and over again, it is centered around creating a community and enjoying the process.

I love rowing because it has given me the confidence to believe that there is no limit to the things I can achieve. Rowing is incredibly taxing both mentally and physically, yet you will never meet a rower who merely "likes" the sport. It's an all or nothing situation and I, for one, am all in.

I row because I find peace in the process of taking strokes, and the repetition of the sport and I haven't found anything in the world as rewarding as winning a race. Over the years, I have formed unbreakable bonds with my teammates who will continue to row by my side for the remainder of high school.
